SUMMARY:American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator
DESCRIPTION:A Paddle Safety Facilitator is trained to do pre-paddling safet
 y training.  The facilitator goes over everything from how to plan a trip
 \, what to pack\, and how to respond if the unforeseen happens.\n\nThe Ame
 rican Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator (PSF) certificatio
 n program teaches basic safety and paddling knowledge\, as well as simple 
 rescue skills for canoe and kayak. The training for this certification inc
 ludes a base knowledge module (non-craft specific) and craft (canoe and ka
 yak) specific module. This certification allows the facilitator to introdu
 ce paddle craft safety and knowledge to the beginner paddler in a land-bas
 ed setting.\n\nIn order to receive official credentialing documentation of
  this certification\, participants must have a current individual American
  Canoe Association membership.\n\nThe cost for this program is $15 for CCF
  members and $25 for non-members. This does NOT include ACA membership tha
 t is required for official credentialing. An individual ACA membership cos
 ts $40 (payable directly to ACA).\n\nNon-member registration will open on 
 May 1.\n\nThe course will take place at Whipple Dam State Park on May 30 a
 t the Lakeside Pavilion near the boat launch on the west side of the lake 
 (on the opposite side from the swimming beach):\n\n 	10AM - 2PM Basic Safe
 ty and Paddling Knowledge\n 	2PM - 4PM - Craft specific skills*\n\nPartici
 pants should pack a lunch\, refillable water bottle\, and be dressed for b
 eing out on the lake. Craft specific skills will require demonstrating in-
 water rescues\, so participants should bring a towel and change of clothes
 .\n\n*Participants who only need certification in one craft will likely fi
 nish early. Please add a comment to your registration if you only want to 
 cover one craft.\n\nCCF members will need to log in to get a discounted re
 gistration.
