SUMMARY:Fall Hike and Camping
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a scenic hike through Rothrock State Forest followe
 d by a campout in Penn Roosevelt State Park. This "slack-packing" trip giv
 es participants a preview into backpacking\, while still allowing the comf
 orts of car-camping. This event is perfect for anyone interested in trying
  out backpacking or just looking for a fun weekend in nature!\n\nAdvance r
 egistration is required and participation is limited to 8 participants. An
 y minors must be at least 12 years of age and accompanied by a responsible
  adult.\n\nCost for participants registered through September 16 is $15. L
 ate registrations are $25.\n\nRegistration closes on September 30.\nHike\n
 We will set out from the Alan Seeger Natural Area at 10:30 AM on Saturday\
 , October 8th. We will hike along the Long Mountain Trail\, over Grass Mou
 ntain\, and end in Penn Roosevelt State Park\, stopping for lunch around t
 he half-way point.\n\nThe hike is approximately 4.6 miles with ~1300 ft el
 evation gain and is of moderate difficulty. We will be ascending the less 
 steep side of the mountain for a long\, gradual climb\, and then descendin
 g on the steep side of the mountain. The total hike time will be 3 to 4 ho
 urs\, depending on the speed of the group.\n\nHikers must be in good physi
 cal shape and are responsible for bringing their own water and a bagged lu
 nch.\n\nHikers should wear high visibility clothing such as an orange hat\
 , shirt\, bandana\, or backpack.\nCamping\nWe will camp in the tenting are
 a of Penn Roosevelt State Park. Participants can drop their camping gear (
 and car) off at Penn Roosevelt on either Friday evening (for 2 nights of c
 amping) or Saturday morning before 10AM. We will provide a shuttle out to 
 Alan Seeger for the hike.\n\nTents can be provided on request - please put
  a comment on your registration.\n\nCamp dinner\, breakfast(s)\, shuttle t
 o Alan Seeger\, guided hike and the site facility rental fee are all inclu
 ded in the registration fee.
