SUMMARY:Fall Hike and Camping
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a scenic hike through Rothrock State Forest followe
 d by an optional campout in Penn Roosevelt State Park. This "slack-packing
 " trip gives participants a preview into backpacking\, while still allowin
 g the comforts of car-camping.\n\nWe will be hiking from the Alan Seeger N
 atural Area into Penn Roosevelt State Park\, where we will be tent camping
 .\n\nAdvance registration is required and participation is limited to 8 pa
 rticipants.\n\nMinors must be accompanied by a responsible adult and at le
 ast 11 years of age.\n\nRegistration closes on October 8.\nHike\nWe will s
 et out from the Alan Seeger Natural Area at 10:30 AM on Saturday\, October
  16th. We will hike along the Long Mountain Trail\, over Grass Mountain\, 
 and end in Penn Roosevelt State Park\, stopping for lunch around the half-
 way point.\n\nThe hike is approximately 4.6 miles with ~1300 ft elevation 
 gain and is of moderate difficulty. We will be ascending the less steep si
 de of the mountain for a long\, gradual climb\, and then descending on the
  steep side of the mountain. The total hike time will be 3 to 4 hours\, de
 pending on the speed of the group.\n\nHikers must be in good physical shap
 e and are responsible for bringing their own water and a bagged lunch.\n\n
 Hikers should wear high visibility clothing such as an orange hat\, shirt\
 , bandana\, or backpack.\nCamping\nWe will camp in the tenting area of Pen
 n Roosevelt State Park. Groups who will be camping can drop their camping 
 gear (and car) off at Penn Roosevelt on either Friday evening (for 2 night
 s of camping!) or Saturday morning before 10AM. We will provide a shuttle 
 out to Alan Seeger for the hike.\n\nTents can be provided on request - ple
 ase put a comment on your registration.\n\nCamp dinner\, breakfast(s)\, sh
 uttle to Alan Seeger\, guided hike and the site facility rental fee are in
 cluded in the $15 registration fee.\nShuttle\nCCF can provide shuttle serv
 ice from Penn Roosevelt to Alan Seeger.\n\nCampers who are at Penn Rooseve
 lt before 10AM on Saturday morning can take the pre-hike shuttle out to Al
 an Seeger.\n\nHike-only participants can take the post-hike shuttle back t
 o Alan Seeger.\n\nMasking is required when in vehicles.\n\nPlease let us k
 now in advance if you will be taking advantage of the shuttle.
