Event Type

A Paddle Safety Facilitator is trained to do pre-paddling safety training.  The facilitator goes over everything from how to plan a trip, what to pack, and how to respond if the unforeseen happens.

The American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator (PSF) certification program teaches basic safety and paddling knowledge, as well as simple rescue skills for canoe. The training for this certification includes a base knowledge module (non-craft specific) and a canoe specific module. This certification allows the facilitator to introduce paddle craft safety and knowledge to the beginner paddler in a land-based setting.

In order to receive official credentialing documentation of this certification, participants must have a current individual American Canoe Association membership.

The cost for this program is $15 per participant (does NOT include ACA membership).

The in-person skills instruction will take place at Whipple Dam State Park on May 22 from 1PM to 6PM at the Lakeside Pavilion near the boat launch on the west side of the lake (on the opposite side from the swimming beach).

Participants are required to wear face masks and maintain 6ft distance. If you have any symptoms of illness, please contact us to reschedule.
